Selena Gomez was not the subject of the 40-year-old pop star’s recent social media rant in which she blasted women for judging other women, she made clear in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

Regarding my opinions on women criticising other women for exercising their First Amendment rights to self-expression, let me be clear, Spears stated.

She wrote below her illustration of a woman’s silhouette, “A strong woman stands up for herself. A stronger woman stands up for everyone else.

“What I said had absolutely nothing to do with anyone in particular,” she said. It was obviously a topic that all women have had to cope with because, as you can see from my extensive musical background! When I was younger, I experienced severe discrimination from men who would talk about or display their midriffs and flesh on live television during interviews. Selena has likely experienced something a lot like what it feels like to be judged.

Regarding my opinions on women criticising other women for exercising their First Amendment rights to self-expression, let me be clear, Spears stated.

A powerful woman stands up for herself, she wrote alongside her illustration of a lady’s silhouette. Everyone other is defended by a stronger lady.

She said, “What I said had absolutely nothing to do with anyone in particular… It was obvious that it was a problem that all women have faced. Hey, my musical roots go way back! I’m actually thinking back to when I was younger and experienced severe discrimination from men who talked about or exposed their midriffs and flesh during interviews! Selena is perhaps the only one who has experienced what it feels like to be judged.

Fans on social media speculated that Spears’ first tweet was directed at the 30-year-old based on a comment Gomez made at the 2016 American Music Awards.

Gomez famously stated on Instagram that she “didn’t want to see [their] bodies.”

The “Toxic” singer, who routinely shares videos and photographs of herself in undress on social media, seemed to be critical of the “Ice Cream” music video that Selena Gomez and the K-pop girl duo Blackpink created in 2020.

They assert that “This is NOT something I would do,” but those same women are the ones who had videos of them slurping and sucking on homemade ice cream shot on a $4 million budget!

She added that it should be up to women to choose how they want to “flaunt” their “beautiful bodies.

Spears added that she was referring to the “ice cream” in Kelis’ “Milkshake” music video from 2004, which she commended for its blatant display of sensuality.

And I was responding to Kelis’s post on the Milkshake video, which was the moment when ladies began to shake their bums. At that point in time, individuals realised how important it was to push the bounds of acceptable expression. There was widespread offended! Grammy-winning author written.

“I encourage women to use their bodies in whatever way they like… and TONS of other well-known stars with million dollar budget videos talked s-t about her when she was a young artist trying to break through! I’m sorry for my naivety, but I didn’t even watch Selena Gomez’s Ice Cream music video, who I actually admire and love so much.

Spears also talked about how happy she was that Gomez came to her lavish June wedding to Sam Asghari.

I got to be surprised by the lovely queen Gomez on my wedding day and was utterly in awe of her!!!” she stated.

She wrote. “I mean, I was a dumb DJ for five minutes and played my favourite song of hers, ‘Bad Liar,’ loud on the dance floor like a six-year-old fan, then I got to sing my favourite song with her and I wanted to absolutely pinch myself!”

Spears continued, “I would like to inform Selena, who is probably not even aware of the trash news, that her music has helped me through a lot and thank you again for making my dreams come true by attending my wedding… I’ve always wanted to meet you, and my dream has come true. I will never forget it!!
Gomez hasn’t replied to Spears’ posts yet. She stated on Wednesday that she had tested positive for COVID-19 via her Instagram Story, so it appears that she may be taking a break to relax.
